FINESS HONEYS | Nina Waring

FINESS HONEYS | Nina Waring

by Shelly Haak Carr

We caught up with Nina Waring AKA @lilween_, a Sydney based artist and ceramicist, to chew the fat on her personal style, sneaker collection, and to flex some of our latest releases including the Nike Air Max 90 Laser Pinkthe Vans Old Skool Gum Block Checkerboard and also the Fila Disruptor II Premium Repeat in Pink Shadow!

Favourite sneaker in your collection and why?
Air Max 90 Infra Reds from 2006. They’re a timeless shoe and the reason I started collecting in the first place.
Favourite Nike silhouette?
The Spiridon.
What was your first pair of sneakers?
A pair of Globe Fusions when I was 6 or 7.
What are your favourite Australian streetwear brands and why?
Saintside and Supply. Good people, good style, good product.
What are your favourite places to visit when you're in Melbourne?
Saintside, Shandong MaMa, Black Pearl, Doomsday Store and Metropolis Bookshop.
What's your go-to outfit for spring?
Stone washed jeans and Air Max 1’s with a singlet and bum bag. I don’t wear anything I can’t ride in.
How do you think Melbourne and Sydney street style differ?
I would say that Melbourne is more into niche and independent designers, Sydney is more about the well known brands. Sydney is also seasonal. Melbourne has multiple seasons in one day so the style needs to be more versatile.
What's a sneaker trend that you think needs to stop?
I don’t mind sneaker trends so much, but the Balenciaga Triple S needs to go in the bin.
