Flashy and eye-catching; Nike’s Air Max lineup has always been the most beloved by sneaker enthusiasts. The mass appeal of the Air Max lineup is logical. Every iteration is an improvement over the other and the number of sales keeps growing year by year.
The pair that we are reviewing today is the Nike Air Max 90 Ultra 2.0 Flyknit in Infrared/White/Wolf Grey.
Design
The shoe has changed a bit over the years since it was first introduced in 1987, but the one consistency throughout is the large visible air cushioning unit at the heel of the sneaker that is present in all Air Max models.
The bold blending of the OG Infrared colourway is definitely one of the shoe’s strongest selling points. The Swoosh logo can be found on both sides of the midfoot although they are subtle. The Air Max logos, can be found on the midsole, one on each side.
Comfort
Comfort is the Air Max’s greatest advantage thanks to the Air Max’s insides. Nike has decided to improve its cushioning and overall comfort of the shoe particularly for the ladies edition.
The upper is entirely made of Flyknit (Nike’s knitting technology) which is light as a feather and adds stability and strength to the shoe.
Sole
That visible air got us in crazy in love. The technology is simple; imagine an airbag below your foot. It sounds weird but it’s great.
The technology provides superior cushioning which protects your muscles, joints and tendons. This is because the cushion absorbs the force of your feet stepping on the ground - neat stuff.
On the other hand, the outsole is made of solid rubber. It’s incredibly tough and can withstand long-term abuse easily.
Overall
The Air Max does not sacrifice performance for the sake of looks and vice versa. They are bulkier compared to other sneakers, but once you get used to it, you will never ever look back, plus you will also turn a few heads with the vibrant OG Infrared colourway.
Comfort and quality-wise? It’d be a tough task to find shoes that can come close to the Air Max’s comfort level in this price range.
The Air Max is one of the most sold sneakers year after year for a reason - they are just so damn good.
